Programs in the Care and Development of Young Children (CDYC) discipline prepare students to effectively educate young children while assuring their health, safety, and well-being in a number of professional settings. In Fall 2016, Nunez Community College opened a new early childhood classroom simulation lab housed in the College's Fine Arts Center.

What skills and credentials will I gain?

The Technical Diploma Program:

This provides specific training in early childhood and basic general education requirements. It consists of 45 semester hours. It provides credentials to receive an Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate (ECAC) to completers of the program. 

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Program: Provides significant training in both early childhood and general education. This program consists of 60 semester hours. It provides credentials to receive an Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate (ECAC) to completers of the program.

High school diploma or equivalency. Nunez Community College is an open-enrollment institution. This means that regardless of your ACT or COMPASS scores, you are eligible to begin enrolling in classes on our campus.
